The 60th anniversary of Japan Clock & Watch Association
The Japan Clock & Watch Association (JCWA) held a commemorative party at the New Grand Palace Hotel to celebrate its 60th anniversary on May 26, 2008.
The JCWA was established on April 15, 1948 as a voluntary organization and authorized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) as an independent and non- profit incorporated association on November 20, 1982.
There were 90 participants at the party, including the representatives of the METI, the representatives of the business organizations of Japanese watch and clock industry, and those having a relationship with JCWA member companies, as well as the press.
The party began with the opening address of Mr. Tsuneo Nagai, Chairman of the JCWA, followed by the greetings of Mr. Hideto Akiba, Director of the METI.
After the introduction of the congratulatory messages from Mr. Jean-Daniel Pasche, President of the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry, and Mr. Meng Ke Ren, Chairman of China Horologe Association, a traditional Japanese Kagami-wari ceremony was held by the guests, and a toast was proposed by Mr. Reijiro Hattori, an honorary member of the JCWA.
Distributed to the participants were JCWA leaflets covering the brief history of the Japanese watch and clock industry for the past 60 years with a chronological table of the major local and world events for the corresponding period, and the party was concluded successfully.
