5.HOW DO WATCH/CLOCK MANUFACTURERS COMBAT COUNTERFEIT TIMEPIECES?

To protect intellectual property rights as mentioned above, each JCWA member watch/clock manufacturer actively appeals to dealers (retailers, wholesalers, importers, or manufacturers) of counterfeit watches and clocks to cease selling or dealing in these illegal products.
The following measures are being taken to combat counterfeit watches and clocks.

1. Publishing warnings regarding the sale or purchase of counterfeit watches and clocks in print media
2. Warning dealers to cease dealing in counterfeit watches and clocks
3. Stopping counterfeit watches and clocks at Customs upon import into Japan
4. Seizure of counterfeit watches and clocks by the relevant authorities
5. Civil and/or criminal actions
6. Educational campaigns at exhibitions
