  • The 2012 shipments of Japanese complete watches under JGO increased in units by 4% amounting to 67.1 million units, and increased in value by 8% amounting to 182.8 billion yen, in relation to the previous year.
  • An analysis by type in units in comparison with the previous year shows +5% for analog quartz, +4% for digital quartz and -3% for mechanical watches respectively.
  • For additional information, the 2012 total shipments of Japanese complete watches and watch movements under JGO decreased in units by 5% amounting to 590 million units, and increased in value by 6% amounting to 242.9 billion yen, in relation to the previous year.

  • The 2012 exports of Japanese complete watches (including those from overseas facilities and ports) increased in units by 3% amounting to 59.9 million units, and increased in value by 5% amounting to 105.8 billion yen, in relation to the previous year.
  • Regarding destination of exported Japanese complete watches (including those from overseas facilities and ports), North America, Europe and Asia show increase in value in relation to the previous year.

  • The 2012 shipments of Japanese complete clocks under JGO decreased in units by 2% amounting to 17.0 million units, and decreased in value by 7% amounting to 27.5 billion yen, in relation to the previous year.
  • An analysis by type in units in comparison with the previous year shows -4% for table clocks and +5% for wall clocks.
  • For additional information, the 2012 total shipments of Japanese complete clocks and clock movements under JGO increased in units by 4% amounting to 24 million units, and decreased in value by 5% amounting to 28.8 billion yen, in relation to the previous year.

  • Regarding destination of exported Japanese complete clocks (including those from overseas facilities and ports), C/S.America and Asia show increase, and other areas decrease in value in relation to the previous year.

  • The 2012 domestic shipments of Japanese complete clocks decreased by 3% amounting to 12.5 million in units and decreased by 8% amounting to 23.6 billion yen in value, in relation to the previous year.
  • The shipment share of radio controlled clocks against all clocks was 49% in units, and 60% in value.
